DWNI 2010 Accomplishments Announced Board of Directors Held Annual Meeting on Jan. 20, elected board and officers, revised bylaws. Completed and filed 2009 IRS 990s and Pennsylvania BCO-10 documents. Moved to Main Street office in the Cornerstone Building. Managed/maintained Cornerstone Bldg. through NDC with 1 residential vacancy. Worked 1,829 volunteer hours at a state-equivalent value of $35,857. Maintained memberships with Pa. Downtown Center and National Trust. Maintained partnerships with Mon Valley Initiative and Trail Towns Program. Promotions Committee Recruited 80 individual members and 9 businesses raising $3,140 in donations. Raised $6,280 in public donations for operations, projects, activities and events. Participated in fundraising activities including dinners, raffles and items sales. Held events like the Heritage Fest, Car Cruise, Oktoberfest and Miracle on MS. Received $20,252 in grants, fundraising and sponsorships for downtown events. Promoted regionally through dwni.org, Trailbook, brochures and placemats. Promoted downtown locally through WNCTV ads, news releases, flyers, etc. Design Committee Participated in the Great PA Cleanup during Earth Week. Participated in regional Trail Towns Preservation Plan activities/workshops. Received $30,000 façade grant with 1 façade completed and 2 others pending. Received $25,000 for Circulation Study underway through SGA-Lettrich Group. Economic Restructuring Committee Assisted with business activity including 5 startups/expansions and 2 closings. Marketed 10 vacant properties through MVI with 4 downtown vacancies filled. Working with Progress Fund to acquire downtown property for rehab/resale. Promoted 5 businesses through the Business Recognition Program. Managed preconstruction requirements with PennDOT for bridge enhancements. Received grants to date for Simeral Square construction totaling $390,000. Submitted applications pending for Simeral Square construction of $643,000.
