West Newton Trailhead of the Great Allegheny Passage

The Trailhead component will move the trail along the riverfront and out to multi-leveled piers that would give trail users a river view and a glimpse of downtown activities and a pavilion to provide shelter with a kiosk of events, amenities, and maps inviting visitors to stop and explore West Newton.

Realigning Collinsburg Road, moving the trail along the river, and creating a parking entrance at the bike shop would promote safety through improved sight lines and turning radius. A raised crossing table could safely promote traffic across Collinsburg Road near the refurbished train station instead of Main Street calming and alerting pedestrians and vehicles.
